Between April and June 2015 District Local Authorities in England received 123,500 applications for planning permission. A figure that is up just under one per cent from 123,100 in the correspond- ing quarter of 2014.
Over the same period local authorities granted 95,100 decisions, up three per cent from the same quarter in 2014. This is equivalent to 88 per cent of decisions, which is actually down one percent from the same quarter of 2014.
Speed of planning approval remained relatively unchanged, with 78 per cent of major applications within 13 weeks or the agreed time, down slightly from 79 per cent for the same period in 2014.
Looking over the entire year ending in June 2015, local authorities granted 362,800 decisions, up four per cent from the figure for the year ending June 2014. They granted 88 per cent of decisions, unchanged from 2014.
44,900 of the granted decisions were for residential developments, which 5,700 for 'major' developments and 39,200 for minors.
So Britain is building. In particular, home owners in England are extending. Creating more room by adapting and extending their home.
